READ A CHAPTER A DAY (Fall 2026 Sermon Series)
10 New Testament Letters to Shape My Heart

Week 5: 1 & 2 Timothy

This week in our Read a Chapter a Day journey, we come to 1 and 2 Timothy. These letters were written by Paul to Timothy, his spiritual son and a younger leader in the church. In 1 Timothy, Paul encourages Timothy as he takes greater responsibility for leading the church. By 2 Timothy, Paul is imprisoned in Rome and knows that his own life and ministry are coming to an end.

Paul tells Timothy, “Fight the good fight of the faith.” But this fight is not about defeating other people, winning arguments, or proving that we are right. Paul explains what the good fight looks like: pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. The good fight is learning to remain faithful to Christ even when we are disappointed, criticized, hurt, or challenged.

Near the end of his own life, Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Paul did not just tell Timothy how to live; he showed him what a faithful life looks like. Through opposition, suffering, rejection, and imprisonment, Paul continued to follow the way of Christ. This reminds us that one of the strongest ways we pass faith to the next generation is through the way we live.

As we continue reading God’s Word, may Christ enlarge our hearts with His love. May we learn not to return every stone that is thrown at us, but to keep pursuing the character of Jesus. And may the faith we live today become a blessing to the generations that follow.

Today is the day! KidZone Wednesday and reNEW Youth Groups resume today!

KidZone Wednesdays
Ages 4 through 6th Grade
5:30–7:00 PM
Meal included

Check-in is at the Fellowship Hall West entrance (parking lot side). At 7:00 PM, parents must pick up their children inside the Church Narthex using the East Doors.

Please do not drop children off before 5:20 PM.

reNEW Youth Group
7th–12th Grades
5:30–7:00 PM
Meal included

reNEW Youth will meet in Fellowship Hall.

5:20 – Doors open
